On March 26 and 27 Troop 343 will venture forth to Cloudland Canyon State Park in Rising Fawn, Georgia. This will be the first camping trip with our new Panther patrol! We will car camp the night of the 26th. The next day the Panthers will have a chance to work on their basic Scouting skills and advancement while most of the older scouts will put on their backpacks and hike the trails in the park. The Panthers may get their 5 mile hike with just daypacks done for the Second Class hike requirement.
For the older scouts this is great prep for Philmont or the upcoming 50 miler. For the new Panthers, it is a great chance to start moving out on the trail to Eagle!

It is time again to make our plans to attend summer camp at Woodruff Scout Reservation in the cool mountains of north Georgia. We will attend camp from July 11th through July 17th. This is an event that all our scouts should not miss on their paths to Eagle. It is an excellent opportunity to earn those valuable Eagle required merit badges, expand your scouting experience, and have a lot of fun.
The first payment of $80 is due on February 1st and should be submitted to Woodruff Outing Scoutmaster ASM Scott McPheeters. Make your checks payable to Troop 343. He needs an accurate count of participation by February 1st in order that we may reserve our slots at summer camp. Get your payment in early as reservations for summer camp are limited.
Shortly after February 1st, Mr. McPheeters will be asking each scout to submit a form with their requested merit badges for that week.
Remember to submit your $80 payment to Mr. McPheeters by February 1st to reserve your slot.
