News ArchiveMore Hiking fun for Troop 343. The troop will be taking part in a 20 mile hike on June 5th. We will follow part of the route of the Rocket City Marathon for 20 miles in order to accomplish a very difficult requirement for the Hiking Merit Badge. Due to the length, extreme physical nature and relatively fast pace of this hike, only those scouts who are working on the Hiking MB and have completed their five 10 mile hikes or are going to Philmont will be allowed to participate.

We will meet at the Cove Church at 6:30 AM and return not later than 5 PM. Uniform of the Day: Class B Scout T-shirt with appropriate hiking pants, tennis shoes (or hiking boots) and socks! (Not necessarily Scout pants and socks but they must be appropriate hiking gear.) Any Class B T-shirt will do, ie. Woodruff, Buffalo River, AT, etc. Bring plenty of water, snacks and lunch (peanut free), a day pack, and sunscreen. Outing Coordinator for this event is ASM Scott Gillies.
