On March 10th Cove Methodist will be holding a "One Night without a Home" event to highlight homelessness in our area. Participants will be spending the night in boxes or tents and eating from a soup line and attending awareness sessions. Troop 343 has been asked to help out serving food, providing a cracker barrel and helping people get set up. For those who stay the night this will count as a night of camping even if you spend the night in a box instead of a tent.
Sorry for few details until now but things are still developing.
For our support, we need to be at Cove Methodist at 5:30 PM to help prepare to serve the soup line and prepare to help maintain fires for the participants. We will also be providing cobblers from our Dutch ovens later in the evening. Please show up in your class A uniforms for the event.
If you are spending the night, be prepared with your normal camping sleeping gear. You can sleep in a box like some of the participants will be or in a troop or personal tent. You will also need to bring $10. This is not a normal camp out so you do not need to bring all your normal gear but be prepared to sleep over night and be prepared for weather. You will get credit service project hours and a night camping.
Parents can pick up their scouts in the morning. We have been invited to participate in Cove's 8 AM service and you can pick up your scout before or after that service.
Parents, please be get with one of the scout masters when you drop your son off to sign a permission slip.
